Associate Designer

Salary Range

$30.00 - $38.00 per hour (non-exempt position)

What You'll Need

  • 2+ years of residential architectural experience in an office setting.
  • Consistent work history with strong professional references.
  • Proficiency in design utilizing hand sketching, Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, and other software to skillfully communicate design solutions.
  • Hand-drawing skills.
  • Familiarity with Building Codes/ ADA requirements and constructability issues. 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills are a must as well as graphic capabilities.
  • Positive attitude and a continued willingness to learn.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from an accredited school is a plus.

What You'll Do

  • Working independently 30% of the time and assigned daily tasks by the SPD.
  • Adhere to RHA CAD/Revit Standards for Design and Production
  • Communicate effectively and frequently with SPD and other team members to resolve all project related questions.
  • Learn RHA’s design philosophy and ask questions to promote growth and gain a better understanding.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and willing to help in multiple projects at once to meet deadlines.
  • Generate free-hand sketches of floor plans, elevations, and roof plans is encouraged.
  • Pick up red lines and comments and accurately follow through with revisions, under direct supervision.
  • Accurately block-out floor plans, roof plans and elevations based on Senior Designer or Senior Project Director’s approved sketches using CAD, Photoshop, or manual (hard lined) drafting, under direct supervision.
  • Assist Senior Designer and/or Project Director in generating Design Detail Reference.
  • Calculate floor areas accurately, under direct supervision.
  • Create and package files for distribution by the SPD to clients and consultants.
  • Prepare floor plan, elevation, and roof plan drawings for Schematic Design Package that follow RHA standard graphics.
  • Format Schematic Design Package with correct sheet size and title block information, sequence, material callouts, and labels. Accurately represent the drawing scale and north arrow under direct supervision.
  • Generate streetscenes based on site plan.
  • Generate color and landscape site plan.
  • Generate color and material selections.
